The potential for wave energy

Experts have tried to harness the power of the wave of the 19 th century. As wind passes over the ocean waves occurs. No direct correlation between the power of wind and wave energy.

Can sound be used to collect or cancel oil?

If scientists could find a way to determine the resonance signature at the source of the leak (Fourier analysis) could sound waves be used somehow to contain, stop, reverse or cancel (disperse into non-harmful particulates) the oil/gas?

Or, do we really not want today's governors to rediscover the power of sound?

theoretically, if you were to discover the resonance of the oil, you could use that frequency at a high decibel to target the oil particles, other than shaking them around a bunch, i don't think it would do much damage
