What should I charge/how do I determine what to charge for mat cutting and custom framing?
Go to your local Joanne's or Michael's craft store and see what they charge. Then cut it by 10% - 20%. Because, and I am assuming here, your overhead won't be as high, you will be able to charge less, but still maintain a higher profit margin.

help with OIL PAINTING?
I bought some paint today, but don't actually know if i need a 'medium'
here's what i have (as far as paints)
* Grumbacher (brand) Academy Oil Paint, the color is black it has this #: T11511
i also have * Grumbacher "max'', and that is red
i don't know if this helps, BUT do i need painting medium or anything else? i'm not making anything huge, its an 11x14 canvas. i just wanted to test oil because i've never used them. Thanks
You'll want to make sure that you gesso your canvas if it's not already. You don't really have to use a medium, but it does make paint go on a lot easier. Galkyd works great for thinning oil paints, and making them go on smoothly. Any art store that carries oils should carry it. I like to use the slow drying kind, because it keeps things from drying faster than I want them to.
Also, Odorless Mineral Spirits works great for cleaning brushes, just make sure you don't pour it down the drain.

The famous proponent of German 'Romantic' painting, Philipp Otto Runge, best known as Philipp Runge (July 1777 - December 1810) was as good a draughtsman as he was a painter. He was a pioneer in the study of color harmony and his line of works was remarkable for its experimentation, with the varying proportions of red, yellow, and blue to create a magnificent array of unique colors. Most of Philipp's art carried the definite shades of religiousness and a sense of the universal sync of soul and divinity. Among his most popular works was a series of four paintings, called "The Times of the Day," which could only be partially completed, due to the untimely demise of Runge in 1810. "Morning" is one of the completed oil on canvas work from the series.
The detailed work "Morning" is divided horizontally into three segments - earth, mid-heavens, and heavens. The mid-heavens depict the personification of Aurora, as the central figure of the piece, positioned in the sky. The ground below is marked with plants and landscape characteristically from Northern Germany, where a newly born baby is shown lying on its back. The vertical portions are symmetrical on either side, full of this middle portion. Two young children sitting on the ground are bending forward to pluck irises from the shrubs. Right above their heads, two other figures of children are portrayed hovering in the sky with a bunch of flowers in one hand and a single strand in other. They have their gaze fixed on the figure of Aurora and are offering her a flower from their bunch.
Up above in the sky, angles are floating in different postures and acts. The mythological figures of winged Cherubim have been reincarnated into 'Symbolic' Geister, aiming ahead and reaching out for the Morning Star (planet Venus in the eastern sky that appears right before the sunrise). Like in all of his other works, Philipp has embodied the spirit of Christian trinity in the "Morning." He has made use of his traditional set of colors - blue to represent divinity & the night sky before morning, white to indicate the Holy Spirit, and yellow to exemplify the transcendental morning & evening hours. The entire frame is lit by the glow of Aurora, the epitome of knowledge and light, as an illustration of spiritual enlightenment of mortal souls.
Although, Philipp Runge could not contribute a much to art, in the terms of the number of years, yet he left his indelible mark on the history of art. Runge's philosophical understanding of the interplay of color tones was exceptional, "Morning" being the classic example of the case.

Where is this picture from? Original painting where can i find it?
When i was 13 i used to find others artwork and sketch it. (i now do my own work) i told people it wasn't mine and that i had gotten it from others art though. anyways, i now cannot find the original painting i got this from. I believe i had found this on Deviant art... any help?

how to make a canvas for oil painting?
i need untempered masonite; i found hardboards at home depot but none of them are untempered. i am using it for the corner bases of a canvas and i am using oil paint. does anyone know where to buy"untempered" kind?
and also, i was told to make support bars and the bars are suppose to be 1x2 pine(the same material i used for the the frame of the canvas) . the canvas is not suppose to come in contact with the support bars, so how would i make this possible if 1x2 pine is the same size?
Are you going to use the Masonite for a support and stretch canvas over it? If you are you can raise the surface by nailing or gluing mitered 1/2" or 3/4" quarter round at the edges and stretching the canvas over that. The thin edge will keep the canvas away from the Masonite surface. But why not use, or simply build conventional stretcher bars, or just paint directly on the surface of the gessoed Masonite?
And who told you to go with Untempered?
Nowadays you can use the TEMPERED product, which is the one with a smooth surface on one or both sides. It is darker in color than the untempered. Years ago it was tempered with an oil of some sort that potentially could leach into the painting. Now it is tempered with heat and pressure.The gesso or primer creates a barrier for oils and acids moving in either direction. Recent research seems to indicate it's not a 100% iimpermeable barrier, but good enough unless the painter is doing something really extreme.
Either way, just to be safe, you can wash the board down with alcohol to get rid of any surface oils or impurities before you start and feel better.

Canvas Art – Creating Impressive Piece of Wall Art
Don't want to stack piles of photo albums in the closet, hidden away for years? Tired of art prints that are available in your price range? It is definitely your time to look into canvas printing!
Canvas printing is a technique that imprints the photo of your choice onto a canvas, like those used in oil painting, whereby you can create art suitable for hanging on your wall. It isn't just a matter of scanning the image into a computer, however. Most canvas artists draw your photo by hand and feed the image into a computer that is specially programmed to replicate the craftsmanship associated with a fine work of gallery art.
You can use canvas art printing services to recreate your favorite images from your collection, or choose a variety of wall art they have on hand. Make sure you have your printing provider or artisan gives permission to use their canvas art before submission. Permission from the copyright holder is usually enough to allow that work to be accepted. Chances are, you will not be able to obtain the images in popular magazines or books. If you really do not have any photos or wall art of your own, but would like to use the canvas photo process anyway, to create a piece of canvas art, there are websites where you may purchase royalty free images for a low price. Istockphoto is one example, and there are many others on the internet. The purchase price allows you to do almost anything you like, short of resale of the art.
Create an impressive piece of wall art by printing a mural, or a series of coordinating images that can be hung together, creating a glorious work of art on canvas. Themes may be created from nature, color schemes, a favorite vacation, or family snapshots. Your canvas art can be customized further, by using imprinted slogans or collage writing, and alternate images, or negatives.
Images imprinted on the canvas can recreated the clarity and sharpness of your original photo, or mimic the brushstrokes of traditional art. Single subjects really pop with the use of canvas prints, as the process adds the illusion of texture, using visual techniques. If you prefer a simpler look, some canvas artists will do line drawings, or outlines of your photo for a pop art look, or as mentioned above, make a collage.
Traditional canvas art can be extremely expensive, especially if you want a larger piece. Canvas art that comes from your pictures is cheaper, because the artist doesn't need to spend time working on design, since one is already provided. For a minimal investment, you can combine your photo collection, and your art collection, and redecorate those bare walls.

NO HAIR (NOT EVEN THE BASE GAME HAIR) WILL COME UP IN THE SIMS 3 CAS!?
Ok, so i recently had took all of the custom content out of my sims 3 game because i wanted to sort out the things that i didn't need anymore (Not the custom content that you download in the download manager, but the kind that you have to put in C:Program FilesElectronic ArtsThe Sims 3ModsPackages) So after i took everything out of the "Packages" folder, I started the game again, and i went to "Create A Sim"....The sim that popped up was female and she was wearing the default hairstyle, I went and clicked the hair tab to change it but nothing popped up. When i clicked the clothing tab, the clothes popped up, when i clicked the traits tab, the traits popped up and etc. The only tab that isnt coming up is the hair tab......What is going on with my game? How do i fix it?
That happened to me,except i had just installed it and not put any custom content in.The hair didn't show,nor did the traits.I uninstalled and reinstalled - it was fine after that.
