I bought a painting at an auction. It is an oil on canvas in the impressionist style. The scene is a stream with rocks and trees. It is signed in the lower right corner "Höfer".

I need help identifying two oil paintings .?
One signed" nightingale" is on canvas no frame,24x36 and is of a woman in a blue dress kneeling down and kissing a nude baby.There is a 1" strip around the outer edge that is unpainted but has stamped "H" in black and in red stamped H B with a square around it.Also two round red stamps one with a J in the center and one with an S in the center.The other painting is signed Gieg Sievers and is the same dimentions however no stamps on borders.There is some oriental writings in small felt pen.The scene is of a lady in white dress reading a book to a child sitting on a bench with trees flowers etc. Both paintings have thumbtack holes but no frames.The canvas is tan to grey in color.Anyone got a clue?
These sound like the products of an oriental painting factory where teams of artists work on a production line basis. The signatures are invented so there is no information available about individual artists.
Paintings of this type are bought in bulk by the furnishing trade and have very little resale value.

At this place that I go to, almost daily, there is this amazing beautiful white woman named Lynn. Her beauty is wonderful and she has such clean, pure, soft and beautiful white bare feet. She has her beautiful white toes freshly painted. I day dream about her so much and I'm in love with her but I'm in love with all beautiful white women that have beautiful white bare feet. Just once, I would like to tell Lynn how beautiful she is and kiss her beautiful white bare feet. But most of me doesn't want to tell her and just admire Lynn from a far.

Helen Frankenthaler is a New York-born post-painterly abstraction artist who actively contributed to the Abstract Art Movement of 1946 to 1960. She was married to Robert Motherwell, another Abstract Expressionist painter, from 1958 until 1971. Her work incorporates two major aspects - her suggestion of naturalism and modernism. In her art, Frankenthaler builds up a strong relationship between surface and image, having the specifics of paint as a medium. Stain painting is the stamp of Frankenthaller's style, she can be mystically transcendental, tender and soft, quietly reflective or explosively lyrical.
Helen Frankenthaler was born the youngest daughter of a judge, in 1928. She pursued her formal studies at Bennington College where she got a strong foundation in Cubism from artist Paul Feeley. She received extra art education in the studios of Hans Hoffman, Wallace Harrrison and Ruffino Tamayo. In 1950 Frankenthaler was introduced to contemporary painting by Clement Greenberg, an influential art critic. Clement Greenberg was a significant influence on Frankenthaler. In 1951, Frankenthaler was chosen by Adolph Gottlieb for a prominent New Talent exhibition. In New York later that year, she had her maiden solo show.
An important catalyst for the evolution of Helen Frankenthaler's style was the art of Jackson Pollock. The showing of Frankenthaler's painting 'Mountains and Sea' in 1952 launched her career. In this painting she introduced her 'soak stain' technique of painting straight on to an unprimed canvas. She mixed oil paint with kerosene or turpentine to heavily dilute it and make the colors penerate into the canvas quickly. By virtually fusing background with figure, this revolutionary abstract art technique of Frankenthaler's made it impossible to separate one from the other. In addition, the technique enabled the spontaneous creation of composite forms.
The influence of abstract expressionist painters like Arshile Gorkhy and Jackson Pollock did not stop Frankenthaler from developing her own unique abstract art style. In her own words "I've explored a variety of directions and themes over the years. But I think in my painting you can see the signature of one artist, the work of one wrist". Frankenthaler's large-scale stain paintings earned her great reviews.
In 1960, the technique of 'Color Field Painting'(a painting style featuring large areas or fields of color) was utilized in reference to Frankenthaler's work. The year also saw Frankenthaller making prints for the first time. 'Essence Mulberry', one of her greatly succesful pieces is also one of her most important abstract art works.
Frankenthaler as an abstract artist has achieved much beyond the traditional roles of a woman. Her abstract art works, which continue to incorporate her stain technique have been commended for their lyrical features. Though for many years, her works appeared to be non-representational, they were really based on imaginary or real landscapes. Painters like Kenneth Noland and Morris Louis adopted her stain technique. Frankenthaler has had several exhibitions, prominent of which were the ones at the Museum of Modern Art in New York and the Whitney Museum of American Art.
Some of Frankenthaler's most prominent abstract art works are 'Jacob's Ladder', 'May 26th Backwards', 'Wales' and 'Freefall'. In addition to her contribution to abstract art, Frankenthaler has illustrated books and explored ceramics. She has taken classes at Harvard, Yale and Princeton. She also designed the costumes and set for a Royal Ballet production in England.

What type of varnish should I use to "seal" sharpie markers on plastic?
I tried clear nail varnish but it dissolved the sharpie ink. Varnish in craft shops are marked as either being for oil based paints or acrylics based paints. Will either of these definitely work? I'd rather know what type of varnish to use than what brand....most brands people give me are American but I live in Ireland. Cheers!
By chance do you have Mod Podge there? This is a water-based glue/sealant that works on a variety of items. If you can get your hands on some, that would be the first thing I would try. Good luck!
