Abstract Art Paintings: Style Without Definite Lines

When it comes to a visual display of color, line, form, and overall composition, Abstract Art has a language all its own. The imagery included in Abstract Art paintings are often far fetched versions of reality. Sometimes they are paintings of things that only the artist is able to interpret. There are artists who are able to get their point across to the public, by painting in such a way that is appealing to just about anyone who views their work.

Various versions of abstract are included in the collection of paintings that fall under the title of Abstract Art. Partial abstraction is present in realistic art. These types of paintings are able to be understood by most people. There are shapes and designs that are recognizable to the general public. As for total abstraction, most of these paintings include images that don't bear a resemblance to anything anyone has ever come across before.

Historically, there were three art movements that actually contributed to the coming about of abstract paintings; Romanticism, Impressionism, and Expressionism. Each of these took place in the nineteenth century. However, Cubism and Fauvism paved the way for abstract paintings to become more popular with the public.

Painting Abstract Art doesn't have a lot to do with imagination or finesse with a paint brush. Just about anything can be applied to a canvas and called Abstract Art.

There are many artists that make a living from creations that are made highly attractive to the public by their distinct color combinations and shapes included in the painting. Abstract Art doesn't have to make sense; it just has to appeal to the viewer in some way. While the overall design can attract many onlookers, some people find that the painting evokes certain feelings within the person viewing the work of art.

Creating a painting in the style of Abstract Art is best done on canvas and with acrylic paint. The acrylic paint is thicker and won't run into other colors when added to the canvas. There is also the ability to create 3D effects with acrylic paint, due to its high viscosity level. Another convenient trait of acrylic paint is that it can be applied with a brush, spatula, and many other types of tools. The thickness is also what allows this layering effect to be possible.

It's best to simply start painting and see what becomes of it. Many times the best works of art come from not trying too hard. People often struggle to form the perfect masterpiece and end up getting frustrated. This frustration actually works against the artist. If painting a personal piece isn't intriguing, there's always the option of purchasing abstract art.

Abstract art paintings are found for a wide range of prices and in an endless number of styles. These can compliment any home decor. There are some artists that people find fascinating enough to only collect paintings by these particular artists. Other individuals find that painting Abstract Art is their calling and become sought after artists all on their own.

I think of 'modern' art as being all work produced since the camera was invented and in popular use. Before that paintings were produced as a record of places, things, and people but with the camera artists were free to paint work that said more and existed for the sake of the art itself. Beauty, if you will.
The last modern painting is being produced as I write this because the modern age is now.

The RainSava system incorporates a filter that can be located in each downpipe or in the combined rainwater pipe after it goes underground. This unique filter design ensures that the rainwater passes through the filter and into the storage tank and any debris and leaves are filtered out.  The design ensures that access to the filter is simple allowing ease of cleaning.

 

Other Features of the RainSava Rainwater System include:

 

• Smoothing Inlet Filter: Calms the flow of water into the tank.

 • Submersible Pump with Floating Suction Filter: The floating suction filter maintains the position of the filter intake just below the water surface which contains the cleanest water. A fine mesh filter provides added filtration. The pump supplies water on demand by pumping it to specific appliances in the house or for irrigation.

• Rainwater Filter Pressure Switch: The pump is controlled by a combined pressure switch/flow controller which turns the pump on and off when required and also provides dry running protection for the pump should it be necessary.
• Mains Water Top-Up (optional):  The control system senses the water level within the underground tank. When stored water is not available the system automatically switches to mains water top up, controlled by a float switch in the tank, thereby ensuring that a constant water supply is maintained without user intervention.
• Overflow Trap: This allows excess water in the tank to overflow into the on site drainage system.  It also provides a water seal against any foul odors from drains and acts as a barrier to rodents.
• Level Gauge (optional): Gives a visual indication of the water level in the underground storage tank.

Tips on Oil Painting - the Qualities of Color

Any color in existence has three qualities that completely determine the color:

 1) Hue
 2) Value
 3) Intensity

We will now precisely explain what each quality means:

* Hue - The hue of a color is simply the name of the color. For example, yellow, red, green-yellow, etc.

Artists often talk about the temperature of a color or a painting. Temperature is really an element of hue. The warms colors are the yellows and the reds while the cool colors are the greens and the blues.

However, temperature is a relative term. For example although two different blues are both cool colors, one blue can be warmer than another blue.

For example French Ultramarine Blue leans towards the violet while Phthalo Blue leans towards green. Therefore French Ultramarine Blue is a warmer blue than Phthalo Blue although both blues are cool.

* Value - Value refers to the lightness or darkness of the color. If you squint you will see that, for example, that yellow is lighter than blue. The value of a color is actually the most important property of a color in relation to painting.

* Intensity - Intensity of a color refers to its brightness or dullness. The more saturated or the purer a color is the more intense it is. A color coming straight out of the tube is in its most intense state. Any mixture will dull the tube color and therefore make it less intense. It is however possible to make most mixtures more intense by adding a touch of one color or another.

Now, if you can nail down the hue, the value, and the intensity of a color you will have reproduced that color. Based on this observation we can outline a    mental procedure to guide us with the mixing of colors:

* Observe - First you observe the color. For example, is it a certain blue or is it red?

* Select - Then you select the color on your palette that resembles the observed color the best.

* Analyze - Of course, as you would expect, the pure tube color on your palette will rarely match the color you observed. Therefore, we now must identify how the two colors differ from each other. In this, we need to concentrate on three things: hue, value, and intensity. Does the color need to be adjusted in terms of hue? For example, does the observed blue lean more towards the violet or towards the green? Does the value need to be adjusted? For example, does this blue need to be darkened or lightened? Finally, does the intensity of the color need to be adjusted? For example, does the blue need to be brighter or duller? One, two, or all three of these qualities may need adjustment.

So, in this article we have looked at the three important qualities of color: hue, value, and intensity. We defined what they are and were able to extract a procedure that we can follow every time we wish to transfer an observed color to our canvas.

In the beginning you will make many mistakes and the going will be slow. It is generally hard to judge the three qualities of a color and it takes practice. This is particularly the case with judging values and intensities. Nevertheless, you need to practice this procedure every day and over and over again. However, one day it will become second nature just like riding a bicycle. Also, in the beginning don’t be too fussy but try over time to become better and better at it.

How to Paint Concrete Like a Pro

Concrete, it's practical, sturdy and has been used in the construction of buildings since the early Roman times. However, without a decorative or protective coating most concrete patios, driveways, walkways and garage floors are unattractive. In fact, more than likely, they're stained, drab, dull, possibly, even ugly.

A porch or patio can be one of the most useful exterior areas of your home if covered with an attractive concrete coating, cleared of all excess junk and with a little thought given to landscaping the area. Unfortunately these spaces are all too often covered with bland concrete which as well as looking rather dull and dreary, may have developed cracks or become stained with moss, grease, oil etc over time. Restoring such areas to a place you would be proud to use for entertaining, outdoor dining or just relaxing may seem like a mighty big job. If the concrete is badly cracked and the surface uneven, generally there is no other choice than to rip it up and re-lay it. Here are a few thoughts to consider before moving forward with your plans to apply concrete coatings.

1. If your floor is inside the house, do a little checking before you decide to coat your floor. Is the concrete damp? Is there any ponding water? (If so, then you have a larger problem than an ugly floor!) Let the concrete dry thoroughly before painting (this may take a while during the wet seasons!)

2. Thoroughly clean the concrete with TS 695 Rynolite Etching Cleaner. If there is any grease on the floor you will want to remove it before painting or the paint may not adhere. To remove grease, put down cat litter to absorb the majority of oil, then scrub again with TS 695 Rynolite Etching Cleaner. Rinse well and wait until the floor is thoroughly dry.

3. Sand off any loose or peeling paint or other residue with a sander or 80 grit sandpaper. Vacuum or sweep up the residue. Then go over the floor with a tack cloth (a sticky cheesecloth available at any hardware or home improvement store).

4. Use a paintable cement filler to repair any cracks and holes and allow it to dry completely before moving forward.

5. Now to begin the painting process. You will want to brush the edges and roll the rest of the floor surface. Let each coat dry between 12 and 24 hours before recoating. Repeat the process with the second or third coats as directed.
