Painting Chinese
The tools needed for painting in reverse on glass are really very simple and limited. The initial cost of the materials can be shaved down to a minimum if you prefer to start out slow. I'll make a list of things you'll need, and I would be willing to guess that you already have at least half, if not most of them somewhere around the house.
1) A small to medium table to work on. It can be as simple as 2 saw horses with short pine planks over the top.
2) A pane of glass with a frame that fits. If you don't mind starting with small paintings, The local dollar store should have 8" x 10" frames.
3) A large brush, 1" to 3" wide.
4) Maybe 2 small round brushes, a size 0 and a size 2
5) manicure sticks, tooth picks, or wooden barbeque skewers
6) Q-Tips
7) A flat pallet knife for mixing paints, (A putty knife would do in a pinch)
Clean styrofoam plates or trays, The plastic lids to coffee cans are great for this, too.
9) masking tape
10) Razor blade or a utility knife
11) Paint. It does not matter whether the paint is water based, acrylic, or oil paint. It only needs
to adhere to the glass, and any of these will.
12) Paint thinner, it's very inexpensive, and you shouldn't even need a full quart for one painting.
13) A few small clean rags.
Now when you think about it, this is really not a lot of investment. Beyond this small list of coarse, a subject for the painting is needed, but that is where your imagination is going to kick in. This is where the fun starts! After you do a few paintings, you're naturally going to want to upgrade your tools. If the one gallon cans of left over house paint made a big mess, you may decide to go purchase the small tubes of paint, available in art supply stores. I paint with oils, so I also need varnish to thin my paints with. You may need more brushes if you're going to continue reverse glass painting. From my own experience of 8 years of reverse glass painting, I can safely say that with time, they do get better. So, I wish you the best of luck! Ready, set, start painting!

Is it possible to get a tattoo that looks like say a Chinese Silk Painting or watercolour painting?
Im looking at getting another tattoo and everything I look at seems so cartoony. I want my tattoo to have a kind of soft pretty look but still have bright colour.
Is there a particular kind of artist I should be looking for?
it's absolutely possible if you chose to go to a talented custom tattoo artist who can do something different than the normal crap tattoo that most artists do. it will definitely take some searching thru portfolios on your part and i would NOT trust an artist who says "yeah, i could do that" if the tattoos in their portfolio don't indicate that they have any special tattooing ability other than what is the normal style.

Chinese Night at Home
A good and fun idea for family meal night is Chinese food. Yes, it's one of the few "ethnic" foods that's a little more expensive to make at home than to buy at the restaurant, but the price is well outweighed by the quality of the food at home, as well as the sense of pride that comes with making something at home.
Sweet and Sour Sauce
It's a dipper. It's a sauce. It's the most recognized condiment in the Asian food world. Use it for eggrolls or mix with virtually any meat for an entrée.
Ingredients
1/3 cup white vinegar
1 cup water
1/8 tsp salt
3/4 cup sugar
1/8 tsp Tabasco sauce
1/8 tsp white pepper
1/2 tsp Worcestershire sauce
2 tbsp cornstarch
3 tbsp ketchup
1/2 tbsp minced ginger
1 tbsp olive oil
Directions
In a sauce pan, combine 2 cups of water, white vinegar, sugar, salt, white pepper and Tabasco sauce. Bring to a boil.
In a bowl, mix cornstarch, 2 tbsp water and Worcestershire sauce. Add to boiling mixture and stir constantly until thickened.
Remove from the stove and add ketchup, ginger, and olive oil. Mix well and refrigerate immediately.
Stir Fry
Stir fry has become more or less a catch-all for the American family. It's convenient and fast, so it's perfect for mom or dad on the go. With so many variations it's also easier to accommodate people's individual tastes.
Ingredients
1/3 cup soy sauce or favorite stir-fry sauce
1/2 tsp ground ginger
1/2 tsp garlic powder
vegetable oil
2 tsp dark sesame oil
1 lb boneless skinless chicken breast, cut into bite-size pieces
1 lb mixed vegetables to taste.
Directions
Combine stir-fry sauce, ginger, and garlic powder in a small bowl, se to the side. In a large nonstick skillet add oil, and place over medium-high heat until hot. Add chicken, and stir-fry until chicken is done. Once cooked, remove chicken from the skillet. Add vegetables to skillet and cook. Re-add the chicken and sauce mix. Cook over medium heat until everything is hot. Remove and serve over rice.
Chinese soups are a favorite anytime. Included to help round out your Chinese food night at home is an easy Chinese style soup: Bok Choy Chicken Soup.
Ingredients
10 thinly sliced of bok choy leaves (Chinese cabbage, regular cabbage will do in a pinch)
3 1/2 cups of chicken broth
2 tsp soy sauce
2 tsp of sesame oil
5-6 red pepper flakes
1 garlic clove well chopped
Directions
In a medium sauce pan, bring chicken broth to a boil. Add soy sauce, sesame oil, pepper flakes and garlic clove. Next add the leaves of bok choy or cabbage. Simmer until cabbage is tender. In the case of bok choy cabbage, it will turn a nice green when done. For regular cabbage cook al Dante.
Hopefully, you will have a fun and delicious Chinese food night in your home! So grab a nice movie and curl up on the couch and chow down.

What product should be used to "paint" the background of an embroidered silk panel to cover up water stains?
I have a pair of large antique Chinese silk embroidered panels that were adhesive mounted on plywood backings. They have suffered water damage, leaving very unattractive stains on the backgrounds. The silk embroidery is fine. I feel that working carefully, I can "paint" the backgrounds a new color that will cover up the stains. What product should I use?
You are going to need a couple of products. The first is called resist (sometimes called gutta) which you can get at craft stores though you will find a larger variety on line. I make silk scarves with hand painted designs and for your application it will work to keep the background color from using the silk fiber to bleed into the design on you panel. Carefully use a paint brush to apply it around the designs and let it thoroughly dry according to package directions. It will provide a barrier to keep the the paint you use to re-paint the background from migrating into the design.
There are paints specifically designed for painting on silk. I use Dye-Na-Flow Silk Paint or Setasilk. The latter has a better and bigger variety of brighter colored paints though not available in larger sized containers, but they both flow easily and are easy to use. Just be sure to follow package directions and your project should turn out beautifully.

Feng Shui Love: Using Chinese Art to Improve Your Relationship
Is your love live as exciting as a documentary on oxen? Do you find your relationship slowly slipping away into a void of silence and a wall of dread - climaxing in a love life that would be akin to rubbing two bits of sand paper together? Well suffer no more with feng shui love - using Chinese art to improve your relationship.
It's all about finding and activating the 'power spots' in your home that affect your relationship and love issues. Once they have been discovered, feng shui will ramp up the volume an add the excitement back into your life.
Let me describe a tad about the technicalities of this. Though there are many schools of thought on feng shui and these power relationship spots, I will present to you a 'how to' - a condensed guide to get you started on the road of a rambunctious love live.
Usually these spots or known as 'Kun Gua' are found in the southwest sector of the home. Note to reader, get a compass. No point doing guessing games here because feng shui has to be exact in its methodology to get the maximum incredible results.
You don't have a compass?
Well, there is no reason to throw your hands up in the air and give up. The 'Kun Gua' is also decided by the entry to the home, so face your house coming in and look to the right and to the back of the house. Identify the rooms which are placed there (including all floors if you happen to live in a multiple floor house, you lucky thing you) and voila! These are the power spots that you need to enhance el pronto.
Also don't discount your bedroom, even if it isn't in the Southwest or the back of your house. The bedroom is integral to this because it is where all the action is happening - or should be happening. It is the hub, the centre, the heart of your relationship and is one of the key power spots that should be injected with some good feng shui right away. Make sure these areas are free of clutter, are well lit, spacious and allow for you to add your feng shui objects of love without too drastic a change to the overall decor.
What are these objects of feng shui love?
Well they are many and giving you an entire list would be an act of futility. However just keep these things in mind, they should be objects that represent love or popular Chinese symbols for either 'love' or 'double happiness'. The colours pink and red are great for ramping up the heat - and I mean this quite literally, candles set side by side in pink or red are great objects to enhance these power spots.
Why should you try this? Because counselling is expensive and more often that nought, is a waste of time. The cost for feng shui love is so low, that you would be insane not to give it a go. Who knows, in a few hours' time you could be locked in a passionate embrace with your loved one.
