Is it possible to make a digital print on a mixed media canvas?

I am looking into an original way to print out my digital art. I was wondering if it were possible to prepare a canvas using different papers glued to it as well as oil or acrylic paints, and then getting a printer to print the image on top of it, for example, a digital print of a girl on a paper and paint background. Has this been done before, and if not, would it be possible with the use of opaque inks or some other techniques?

Each paper going through the printer must have a sizing on it. The ink will most likely skip over the oil paint. Be sure to adjust the printer for the thickness of all the papers being printed on. There is "canvas" made for the printer. I've used "PhotoFabric" 100% cotton twill with good results. It even is available in silk. A good resource for specialty papers is Ebson.
