What can I do to make my oil painting look good (beginner's level photo included)?

I have started to self-teach oil on canvas but I am not at all confident. I would appreciate any suggestions on how to finish this.
I am using oil colors by Camel (I don't know how good or bad it is but its the only one I can get). I guess it got so muddy and dull because I used black to blend with green to make dark green. Yeah, I know, it's a no no but I didn't know before yesterday (did some research on colors).

Nice job but what is missing is the SHADING. That is one of the most important elements to give your drawings depth. Also, adding highlights.
