Drawing an Old Lady: To begin with, portray an old woman facing us. We shall draw the portrait of a female up to her bust. Let us start with imagining any old woman next door for reference.
• Outline: For the convenience of the beginners, we would first draw a rough outline of the body. We can erase the unwanted lines after the completion of the drawing. The structures in a body are mostly made of curves.
• Head: Draw a wide vertical oval. The circumference of this shape would determine the size of the head. Draw a semi-circle just above the oval with both its ends touching them. This forms the hair bun. Sketch the segments of numerous parallel curves extending from the upper part of the head to the bun to represent her hair.
• Face: Just below the hair, draw a few short horizontal wavy lines to represent her wrinkled forehead. Draw a wide angled 'V' without joining the vertex such that the arms of the 'V' touch the either edges of wrinkled lines to represent the eyebrows. Two narrow ellipses below each eyebrow, with a few small curves emanating from the upper edge of the ellipse, can form the eyes with eyelids. An inverted '7' in between the two eyes form a nose and a small curve facing upwards below the nose gives shape to the mouth. Draw a few curves emanating vertically up and down from the curves we just drew to indicate wrinkles around the old woman's mouth. The wide oval we drew initially to represent the head may be erased a little on both sides of the mouth and be redrawn with the curve bending inwards to give the face a shrunk look.
• Body: Draw an inverted 'U' just below the head to make the bust. The size of the head and the body should be proportionate to each other. Now sketch a vertical line on each side within the inverted 'U' to indicate her hands. Form a 'Y' in the center of the bust for the neckline and the cut of her sweater. Two small circles on the tail of the 'Y' can represent the buttons.
• Shading: Erase all unwanted lines and darken the required lines appropriately. Shade the wrinkles lightly.

I have an oil painting that is signed at the bottom "Ferrante" how do I know which Ferrante it is?
There are more than one, and I think it may be quite valuable now, my husband bought it for me in 1970. It appears to be a picture of busy little street in the city with ladies in their long dresses and hats and gentlemen in their long cloaks and there is also a horse and buggy.
A painting won't become valuable simply because it was purchased 37 years ago. The worth depends completely on the artist, and you don't know his first name.
If the painting was purchased from a gallery, you could ask that gallery, if it's still in business (and if it wasn't purchased from a gallery or directly from the artist, the chances of it being valuable or even original are not very good).
Otherwise, you're going to have to use Google or some other search engine to pull up images by artists name Ferrante, and comparing the work and signatures to see if you can find YOUR Ferrante.
Then look up the prices of that artist's work on Ebay. The bid prices will give you an idea what people are willing to pay for it.
