You may feel that you have to have a lot of artistic talent to be able to paint on glassware such as wine glasses. If you have ever spent any time looking at sites where these type of glasses are sold, you will find a variety of designs from very simple to extremely detailed and difficult. Often even the simple designs are very nice and anyone would love to receive them from you as a gift.
I have done many fun glasses that are very colorful and party like with just polka dots all over them. I have even done ones with different colored squiggly lines. Very simple and most anyone can do them.
For those of you who are not able to paint freehand, you might consider taping your picture on the inside of the glass and paint from there. You could even buy transfer carbon and trace the picture you want to paint on to the glass before proceeding. Either way would be easy for you to complete your design work.
Do not be afraid to jump in and give it a try. Remember, if you do not like what you have painted just wash it off and start over. It's as easy as that. This makes painting on glass a great way to learn. You will feel a sense of accomplishment and might be surprised how nicely your glasses will turn out. You will be able to give your friends and family a personalized gift from your heart. Now go paint!!

I originally started painting with stencils and then progressed in to freehand decorative painting. My style of painting is the One Stroke Technique, developed by Donna Dewberry. It is an easy way to make painting visually interesting. I have experience painting not only on walls, but glass, ceramics, fabric, metal, candles, and canvas. This technique is great for small and large jobs alike. It isn't limited to just one area. I love to use the acrylic enamel made by Plaid. It is a great product that is very durable. what type of paint is used for hand painted lenses?
I want to know what type or types of paint is used to paint custom lenses.
Interesting question, but it doesn't seem easy to answer via google.
Putting something into your eye is inherently dangerous, and so there must be some careful standards about contact painting, but I couldn't find specific info.
