Salvador Dali, born in May of 1904, and died in January of 1989, is probably one of the most famous painters of our time. Best known for striking and bizarre images, his skills have been attributed to the influence of Renaissance masters. One of his best known works is The Persistence of Memory, with its simplistic background and images of melting clocks. There are many other paintings by this surreal artist, and now you can find these stunning representations to wear, even on neckties.

There are many different Dali images on men's ties, including The Persistence Of Memory, as well as many others. Some of his untitled works are also available, as well as other famous renderings, like Spiral into Space and the Lantern lady. Some of these are available in color, as well as black and white.

What seems to be the attraction of this neckwear? Well it is a great way to express you own individuality, and it is your necktie that will set you apart from the rest of the herd. With so many different choices to choose from, you could even wear a different rendering every day. Each can express your own personality as well as make for an interesting topic of conversation in any setting. It is also a good way to introduce Salvador Dali to people who may not otherwise know who this famous painter is and what works he has created, promoting his continued interest.

So one of the questions you may be asking yourself is, where can I get a genuine Salvador Dali necktie? The originals were produced in the 1940s and contained the artist signature printed near the tip. There are approximately 43 designs, and they are very hard to come by. You can bid online at auction houses such as eBay. Today's contemporary counterparts may not be available at your local tie retailer, but you can find many of the designs on the Dali Museum website, and these are available in five different designs, The Disintegration in two different styles, The Hallucinogenic Toreador, as well as the Sentimental Colloquy. All five of these ties are made from 100% silk, and are priced at $38 not including shipping.

There are places like Amazon, and online auction houses where you can find neckwear with his works on them. You will have to check around carefully, because while some of these neckties are available, prices may vary greatly. You can also find Salvador Dali ties that are sold in lots of five, each with its own pattern, online at Shopwiki. The most popular, Persistence of Memory is available in many different styles for you to choose from.

Whether you want a tie to distinguish yourself from the pack or just want a change of pace from the normal patterns and designs mass produced by many, you can find a Salvador Dali tie to fit in with your distinct character. You can also find many other wearable artworks by this artist, hats and tee shirts and many other selections. You can also find many online galleries where you can view all of his works, both famous and not so well known. There are also many other things from the Dali, including sculptures.

What is your favorite Salvador Dali artwork?

I love the disintegration of persistence of memory. I'm 15 and I need more ideas for a project I'm working on.

Dali became interested in Freud's psychological theories and this led him to explore his own fears and fantasies through symbolic images captured on canvas. He referred to these paintings as hand-painted dreams photographs.
Dali is considered by many to be the most famous surrealist of all time.

To bring up images from his subconscious mind, Dali began to induce hallucinatory states in himself by a process he described as paranoiac critical. Once Dali hit on this method, his painting style matured very quickly, and he began to produced the paintings that made him the world's best-known Surrealist artist.
I love Dali. He broke a lot of rules within art.
My favorite of his is hard to pick, but since you asked for one, I would choose "Apparatus and Hand"
It was done during his Transitional Period (1927 - 1929):
This period is characterized by furious experimentation. He incorporated gravel, rocks, cork, and other materials onto his canvases. His imagery became more abstract and often grotesque during this period. This was a turning point in his life. He had just been kicked out of school and he was
serving a seven month term in the Spanish militia.

What I love about his work is that he depicted a dream world in which commonplace objects are juxtaposed, deformed, or otherwise metamorphosed in a bizarre and irrational fashion. Dali portrayed these objects in meticulous, almost painfully realistic detail and usually placed them within bleak, sunlit landscapes that some say were reminiscent of his Catalonian homeland.
Good luck on your project!
