#5 Tina Arena - Don't Ask

With 700,000 sales in Australia, sitting at 10 x Platinum - Tina Arena's 1994 release Don't Ask was the 33-year-old's best-selling album to date. It sold over 2 million copies worldwide with the hit singles "Chains", "That's the Way a Woman Feels" and "Sorrento Moon (I Remember)". It was nominated for 10 ARIA awards throughout 1995 and 1996 and won 9, including Album of the Year and Highest Selling Australian Album. Since Don't Ask, Arena has recorded 5 additional English albums along with 2 French compilations and was featured in the most recent Sydney Mardi Gras celebrations.

#4 Crowded House - Recurring Dream - The Very Best of Crowded House

Led by Kiwi singer-songwriter Neil Finn, the international sensation Crowded House can trace its success to the Australian live music scene. Founded in Melbourne, the band was formed byl Finn and Paul Hester who were former members of the popular Split Enz. In 1986, the group began playing at festivals, although it initially struggled to get promotion and play from its Capitol Records label. However, by 1987, the group took home 3 awards at the inaugural ARIA music awards for its single "Don't Dream It's Over". Since then, Crowded House enjoyed international fame with the release of 7 additional studio albums, including their latest production Intriguer released in June 2010. Recurring Dream is a compilation album released in 1996, which includes the group's top selling singles and three new songs. The album sold 840,000 copies in Australia and was awarded 12 x Platinum status.

#3 Savage Garden - Savage Garden

Standing at number 3 with 840,000 copies sold nationwide is the self titled album of Savage Garden released in 1997. Formed in Brisbane by duo Daniel Jones and Darren Hayes, the pair shot to international fame with their first studio album, featuring chart topping singles such as "To The Moon and Back" and their signature song, "Truly Madly Deeply". The album has been certified 12 times platinum in Australia and 7 times Platinum in the US.

#2 Delta Goodrem - Innocent Eyes

From her humble beginnings on Neighbours, Delta Goodrem has taken her fame straight to the top. In addition to winning two Logies for her portrayal of Nina Tucker on the show, Delta has won six ARIA awards including the coveted Highest Selling Album for both 2003 and 2004. Innocent Eyes, released in 2003, topped the national charts for 29 weeks and became the highest selling album of the decade. It sold over 4.5 million copies worldwide and 1.2 million in Australia alone, earning it 14 times Platinum status. It was declared the highest selling album of the first decade of the 21st century.

#1 John Farnham - Whispering Jack

At number one sits a true Aussie classic, John Farnham's Whispering Jack. This English born Australian pop icon dominated the teen scene in the 1960s, but it's his work as a mature adult contemporary singer that has earned him his well deserved top standing. Farnham's been honoured with a number of awards and titles including Australian of the Year in 1987. He's the only Australian artist to have a number one hit across 5 consecutive decades with Whispering Jack sitting at the top of the chart for 25 weeks in a row. Produced in 1986, Whispering Jack became the all time highest selling album to be sold in Australia in 2006, with over 1.68 million copies sold nationwide. It has earned an unprecedented 24 times platinum status.
